  FINITE ELEMENT STRESS ANALYSIS

In conjunction with its conceptual design capabilities, ARRT has significant experience in the modeling and Finite Element (FE) stress analysis of track structures. In some cases, savvy modeling and non-linear material behavior are utilized in order to achieve the results that reflect reality. In others, contacting surfaces such as at rail joints make the modeling even more challenging. No matter the problem, ARRT can perform linear or non-linear static or dynamic analysis of the track structures and its components.

  CONTACT STRESS ANALYSIS

Wheel/rail contact and the damage to both surfaces continue to preoccupy railway engineers. From wheel shelling to rail spalling, the analyses of the causes and mitigation thereof are part of the services that ARRT provides. Understanding the loading into the track and the stresses generated are the first steps in identifying the root cause of the problem.

ARRT utilizes a combination of traditional contact mechanics, finite element and failure analyses to analyze wheel/rail profiles and to rationalize such problems. ARRT has the know-how and experience that will help your railroad to resolve contact damage to your wheels and rails.

  FRACTURE & FAILURE ANALYSIS

When track components fail, the question often asked is why? Finite Element stress analysis combined with fracture mechanics analysis provides ARRT with a powerful and persuasive means of answering such questions. From rationalizing the failure of rail and the resulting derailment to explaining why hi-rail vehicle wheels fall off. ARRT's experiences with failure analysis have also enabled it to pioneer the development of several technical solutions, specifications and recommendations that currently serve railways worldwide.
